Hand in a full transcript of your interview. At least one interview must be on audio. The others may be text chat. Email is not allowed.
Remember that you may NOT offer interview participants any compensation. Our IRB protocol does not provide for that.
You must hand in a complete transcript of your interview. This is not a private conversation--it is human subjects data collected as part of an approved research protocol. If something weird happens, just add a footnote and/or email the instructor to set up a time to talk.
To transcribe your interview, upload it to otter.ai. A student subscription to otter.ai is required for this class, starting late September through early November. The automated transcription is pretty good, but you will need to make corrections. You don't need to get it perfect, but fix anything that makes the transcript hard to understand.
Add comments to your transcript. You may simply use text in line, or use the comment feature of your word processing program. Note places where you wish you had phrased a question better. Mark things your participant said that you find particularly interesting and comment on why.
If you are unable to get an interview, hand in a one-page description of everything you have done to try to get an interview, as well as your team's list of usernames you have asked and who has asked them. If you miss a deadline, hand it in as soon as you can. There are no late penalties for late transcripts, up until the date marked last date transcripts are accepted. After the day marked as last one to hand in interviews, no more interviews will be accepted (no exceptions).
Remember you must accomodate your partipant's schedule. You may not rush them to talk sooner.
Important: if you hand in a transcript late, you must email the Head TA telling them you have submitted it (so they know to go grade it).
If you do extra interviews, we willl count your top three interview grades.
