Trip to Grand Bahama Island
May 12-16, 2005

Here's our beach, Paradise Cove. There's snorkeling right off the beach, around the reef you can see in the background. We saw a school of about eight barracuda, each more than 4' long. They hang out in the cove, and sometimes swim with you. Pete saw sharks, sea turtles and a huge ray (3' across, 6' long). At low tide, you can hop around the tide pools. Noah saw a small stingray in ankle-deep water, and we followed it around through the shallows.

Pete and Noah dig in the sand.
Noah turned 18 months old while we were there. Happy 1.5!

Here's where we stayed--right on the beach.
Really a wonderful spot except (ouch!) for the biting flies that come out in the early morning and evening.

A pelican!

Washing up before lunch is fun!

View down the beach, late in the day.
(Pete and Noah are still digging in the sand.)

Returning to our cabin.

Relaxing and reading after a long day in the sun.

Mission sand removal: a success!

Noah learned the word "sunset" this trip.
