Kathirikai Gothsu
Brinjal Gothsu Recipe
(Kathirikkai Gothsu)

Serves - 2
Brinjal chopped - 1 cup heaped
Onion - 3/4 cup fnely chopped
±omato - 1 cup fnely chopped
Green chillies - 2 slit
±amarind - small gooseberry sized ball
±urmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Oil - 2 1/2 tbsp
Mustard seeds -1 tsp
Hing - a pinch
Curry leaves - Few
PreparaTon
Soak tamarind in hot water For 15-20 minutes, then extract 1 cup oF tamarind juice, discard the pulp.
Chop brinjals into small cubes or pieces.
Method
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it sizzles, add hing, curry leaves, green chillies and onion.
²ry Tll onions turn pink, then add chopped brinjals, turmeric powder, salt and cook Tll brinjals are halF
done.(close the lid and cook in low ³ame, sprinkle water and sTr in between)
Once the brinjals are halF cooked, add tomatoes and cook Tll tomatoes become mushy.
Now add tamarind water and boil well Tll the raw smell goes. Mix a tsp oF rice ³our with a li´le water
and add to it. Boil For a Few more minutes.(rice ³our is added to thicken the gravy).
Ready to serve with Pongal!
