Requirement
Analyze the root causes of World War I, specifically the macro issues that caused the inflammable situation ignited by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. Focus on the geopolitical and balance of power issues and look beyond the generally accepted causes of the Great War. For instance, what was Germany's unique situation for nationalism as a cause? What created the trend toward militarism during the late 19th and early 20th centuries? What conditions encouraged the interlocking alliances that drew the European nations into war in 1914? What other circumstances may have contributed to the European tinderbox in 1914? LENGTH: ~ 1,000 - 2,000 words Collaboration Recognizing that discussing a issue can enhance understanding, I encourage you to talk with your classmates about the central issues of this paper. However, when you begin the preparing the paper, paricularly the selection and use of resources and the articulation of the themes of your argument, the work should be your own. |
