Why, Seth and Howie? Why do you do this?
This story begins in Nagoya, in 1995, at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, a conference so long gone, that it seems to have no residual web presence. According to robotics lore, a large group of roboticists was roaming the Nagoyan streets, in a typical search for a restaurant acceptable to all, with sufficient space to comfortably host the entire group. At some point, Howie said "I'd rather go to McDonald's'' to which Seth replied, "I'm game." And the tradition began. Sadly, there are no photos from this first adventure. In fact, it would be several years before the thought occurred to them to document their journeys on the page that you see before you. |
